Check out todays USGS page for the Lackawaxen at Rowland. The streamflow chart for one year is very telling. Brookfield is not a good citizen. It's a lousy corporate pig.

Fly Fishing the Lackawaxen River
After 5 years of my Fly Fishing the Lackawaxen River page on Facebook I've resurrected the Tow Path Blogger. Tow Path was the predecessor to the Facebook page. Last week Facebook threatened to cancel my account because I made a humorous comment on a post which had the word Russian in it. They didn't care about the f word that was also there. I'm planning to drop my Facebook because of this.
Much of my contact with people over the past 5 years has been through Facebook for a long time and it will be hard to leave it.
The Fly Fishing the Lackawaxen River page has had tremendous growth recently. I'm hoping that some of you will who like the page will add a bookmark for lackawaxenriver.com, The Tow Path is embedded in it.
I'm guessing that if I keep finding things to be humorous and respond to them on Facebook that the humorless A-holes will shut me down anyway.
There's lots of good stuff in the website like a free map to print, a link to google maps, and as mentioned this blog. I use the resources page everyday to check river conditions all around the Upper Delaware.

The end of spring fishing
Time to hit the west branch of the Delaware.for wild brown and the main stem for smallies, wallies and the odd carp. Smallmouth are about the most fun you can have besides a rainbow. They can get pretty big but 10" is about average.

Much needed rain does little to raise the rivers
As of today 5/28 PPL has not posted next weeks generation schedule. I'm hoping it will be similar to the past couple of weeks. Ending the power run at 5pm give you plenty of time to fish this time of year all the way down to Millers maybe but certainly to the pool at Blooming Grove Creek.
My last several trips to the Lackawaxen have shown little evidence of the popularity the the river has had in years past. At the most only a handful of cars at the usual spots all the way from Molly's down to Zane Grey. In the mid 90's there would have been a car or two at every pool. I makes for easy fishing opportunities but few fellow fisherman to share lies with.

PPL is being very generous. Thank you PPL.
On Friday May 22 we did a drift down the Delaware with SweetWater Guide service. Make Padua. The wind was bad the fishing was ok not great but good and a lot of fun. The fast water produced trout and the medium water produced smallies. At the last riffle we caught a nice shad. I looked fresh bright and shinny.

PPL playing games on their web site?
I haven't been a ble to find the time to fish much with the winter holding on so long I have to get a lot done in a short time. Hopefully this evening. I have fished for shad with some luck but the Delaware is really low and the shad are running a bit slow now.
On Monday I scheduled to float the Delaware. Bad weather is predicted. I don't mind rain but wind and lightning are no fun. We will see.

No power generation scheduled this week.
I fished last week, Wednesday and Thursday, at odd hours with no luck. A couple of misses on marabou bead heads. There were more than million of caddis Thursday. Amazing. After I got broken down and packed up the caddis disappeared and wind died just like that. In some of the small eddies that haven't held fish in the past all of a sudden there was a lot of splashy surface feeding. The riffs and pool heads had not activity. Odd. Blooming Grove pool had the only other fisherman that I saw. Again lots of still water rises. Other at the head of the pool. Down at Brights pool the were a few working out in the very middle. This weekend things should get real strong the dark mayflies should be big. I'll be heading over this evening.
The shad are in at Narrowsburg and Zane Gray. If you've never fished for shad do it. They are a blast.
I'm adding to this post. Last weekendd the PPL page showed not scheduled generation. it seems there was!
